Berea, Kentucky – Sunday, December 1, 10:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Shadelandhouse Modern Press, a Lexington, Kentucky-based, family-operated independent book publishing company founded by Virginia H. Underwood (Berea College (1973); University of Kentucky College of Law (1986)) and Stephanie Underwood, will host a Kentucky author showcase and book signing at the historic Boone Tavern Hotel, 100 Main Street, Berea. A reception with light holiday refreshments will begin at 12:15 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

She will also be reading selections from Cradled by Skeletons / Mecida por Esqueletos. Other speakers at the conference include Rep. Merika Coleman-Evans (Alabama House of Representatives) , Tina Kempin Reuter (Director of the Institute for Human Rights and Associate Professor at University of Alabama Birmingham), and Dr. Anna Scheyett (Dean, School of Social Work, University of Georgia).

About The Peacemakers Fourteen-year-old Manny Weaver loves his family and would do anything to protect Father and Uncle Davy from being forced to join the Confederate army. That’s when his trouble begins! With his world crumbling into chaos, Manny is forced to deal with issues of honesty, justice, loyalty, and judgment. He must find answers to serious questions.
